Travelling is something we all look forward to. It not only breaks the monotony of life but also enriches us with new experiences. But do we ever make audits of our travel from ecological perspective? An Eco-traveler does. Eco-travelers try to create zero-waste wherever they travel. They are super careful about what they use while unavoidable non-biodegradable waste is brought home where it is reused, recycled, or repurposed in some way. They try to follow at least one of the following feasible suggestions even for a short trip. The suggestions are:
- Go paperless when it comes to boarding passes and transactions.
- Prefer travelling by train over flights as fuel consumption for flights is copious.
- Bring their own toiletries (bamboo toothbrushes, shampoo bars and soap bars) instead of using from the hotel where they stay.
- Carry water tumbler instead of buying mineral water bottles.
- Favour cycling or public transport for local sightseeing.
- Make their own snacks and pack them in reusable containers rather than buying packed foods.
- Travel light and enjoy the most.
- Do trash audit of their suitcase before and after a trip to understand how much waste they generate.
If anyone follows any of these eco-friendly suggestions for any trip, he/she is an Eco-traveler. Afterall, it is the fundamental duty of all the citizens across the different countries to keep our mother Earth clean and green.
Thank you.
